Policy
Our long term goal
is to foster the largest collection of professional content for physician
assistants on the World Wide Web. We anticipate that our users will return
again and again if content is current, easy to find, and refreshed frequently.
Our emphasis on reader submissions as content will generate repeated word
of mouth referrals. As the collection grows, referrals to patients, faculty,
PA students, employers, and those seeking entry into the profession will
also steadily increase.
With the PA audience,
the placement and tone of marketing messages is as important as their
presentation. Accordingly, we reserve the right to review all submissions
of marketing materials and links for approval. We do not accept sponsorship
or advertising that is not professional in nature or presentation. Banner
ads are not used within this site.
Our marketing vehicles
are derived from usability testing of PAs and the conventions they bring
from the medical print media, live educational presentations, and other
professional sponsored content. Sponsorship is presented in the light
of professional support, rather than as part of a commercial message.
This policy also allows the translation of print media advertisements
to a web format interleaved with content.
Our Four Marketing
Vehicles
1. Advertising
a Job Position
Employers
may advertise a Job Position for physician assistant on this site. A link
would be placed on the Home Page (The page that appears first when the
site is visited) to our Advertiser Section. We include graphics at no
additional charge, i.e., a surgical position will have an accompanying
photo of an operating suite with gowned actors about a patient. Fees are
$50.00 per month, prepaid.
Sponsorship.
The PA Page.com has the following major
sections:
Home
Bookstore,
CME,
Certification,
Career Tools,
Clinical Tools,
Communication,
HIPPA,
Military PAs,
Organizations,
Other PA Sites
PA News,
Policy & Privileges, and
Third Party Payers.
In addition, there
are three other sections that provide services rather than content: Search,
Contact Us, and Exit Page.
Any section may be
sponsored except the Home section. For example,
"This
section is sponsored by Acme Pharmaceutical Company, partners with the
PA profession"
or
"This
information is brought to you by the Acme Pharmaceutical Company, makers
of Drug Name and Second Drug Name".
or
"This Section is Provided by Acme Pharmaceutical Company in Support
of the Physician Assistant's Contribution to Health Care Delivery"
or
"This Section is brought to you by the makers of Drug Name"
The
Sponsorship announcement may contain links to your web site, or to specific
areas of your web site, such as a section devoted to a particular product.
The link could also go to an Adobe PDF document with in our web site.
Each
section serves as an index to subsections organized by content. For example,
the section Clinical Tools has the following subsections:
Patient Information Websites,
Patient
Handouts,
Medical Web Sites,
Pharmacy,
Journal Search,
Medical Dictionary,
Tabers Medical Encyclopedia, and
Merck's Manual.
Each
subsection may be sponsored, in the same format as a section sponsorship.
2. Clickstream
We offer two methods of presenting advertising
content which is initiated by when the user "clicks" a link
to content. Each appears on top of the current page, and remains until
the user clicks a "Continue" button or clicks a link within
the new window to your web site, or to an Adobe PDF document with in our
site.
Pop Up Window-
A new, smaller window opens on top of the current window. This new window
can offer a commercial message, a four color advertisement, a link to
your site or your related content.
Full Page-
Similar to the Pop Up Window above, but the window that appears is in
a full screen area. This larger area may be better suited to your print
ad copy translated into browser dimensions. Besides a commercial message,
a link to your site or content may also be included.
3. Content Placement
Some subsections provide links to other
sites or within our site as part of an indexed collection of information:
Patient Handouts,
Patient Information Websites,
Medical Websites,
Pharmacy, and
Online and Traditional Continuing
Medical Education (CME).
Your
Patient Handouts, Patient Information Website page, Medical Reference
Tool, Product Monograph, and CME Program (on CD-ROM, booklet, telephone
conference, or online) are offered as a choice within one of these listings
of content.
For
example, your patient handout brochure on diabetes could be available
to users with in our section on Patient Information. Users could click
on the listing, and be taken to your web site, or to an Adobe PDF document
with in our site.
Additional Information
An Adobe PDF document is becoming
the de facto standard on the web for sharing information. By using Adobe
Acrobat Reader, available free from www.adobe.com, users can save a document
or brochure on their computer. They can then read it at any time, and
print it easily. This format preserves fonts, spacing, pictures, and graphics
with the original layout, unlike the saving of a web page or even a Word
or WordPerfect Document.
