How to Change What You See on the Internet

Text Size

You are viewing this page through a web browser, which is usually either Microsoft Explorer or Netscape Navigator.

Did you know that you can change the size of the typed words on a website? The words in an image can't be changed, but the typed words can be made to appear in five different sizes.

In Explorer, go to the View command, then Text Size. You now have five choices, and can adjust the text to fit your monitor size and picture resolution.

Another way to change text size when viewing a web site in Explorer is to hold down the Ctrl key and scroll your mouse wheel back and forth to one of the five desired sizes.

One last tip for Explorer is to press the F11 key: this expands the maximal viewing area of the webpage by getting rid of the top and bottom parts of the browser. Pressing F11 again brings the top and bottom bars back.

In Navigator, there are two ways to adjust the font size. The first is similar to Explorer: go to View on the upper bar. There you can increase or decrease the font size for that session of web viewing.

The other way is to set the text size for every time Navigator is opened. Go to Edit, then Preferences. Find Appearance at the top of the list, and click Fonts under it. Here you can set the size and the font. The other method in the paragraph above will still work.
