History of the NCCPA
The NCCPA administers and scores examinations for graduates of physician assistant programs. Successful passage result in certification for the individual, with the right to use the designation PA-C, and physician assistant-certified. It also sets standards
for PAs to retain the certification. Currently, the certificate holder
must successfully complete a recertification examination (also administered
by the NCCPA) every six years. Preapproved means for a specific number of hours of Category I CME credit approved by one of the following: The American
Academy of Physician Assistants,
